In times of peace, and even in some periods of war, Muslim-Byzantine frontiers were regularly crossed for all kinds of purposes and pursuits. But one should always remember that the periods of war between the two sides were much shorter than the periods of truce and peaceful coexistence. During the eight hundred years after the early Islamic conquests, Muslims and Byzantines continued to confront each other, first in northern Syria and later, after the battle of Manzikert in the eleventh century, in Anatolia itself. Philosophy as such was never a pillar of Islamic thought yet, philosophical and logical notions of Greek origins were integrated into the Islamic legal theory ( usul al-fiqh ), 10 Islamic theology ( kalam ), 11 Islamic Sufism ( tasawwuf ), 12 and even the study of Arabic language. Philosophical discourse, on the other hand, diminished the role played by the philosophers in the development of classical Islamic culture and civilization. الإسلام والغرب: نحو عالم Civilization or Political: The Reality of the Present Tension between the Muslim World and the West

In The Penderwicks at Point Mouette, Skye, Jane, and Batty go on summer vacation with Aunt Claire, and Skye (taking on her responsibility as the Oldest Available Penderwick) nearly has a nervous breakdown as she tries to keep Batty safe and Jane free from romantic entanglements. The book explores the theme of deceit used for selfish or noble ends, and in the end the Penderwick family receives a new addition that brings happiness in the best possible way. Afraid that an evil stepmother might be coming down the pike, the Penderwick sisters try to set their father up with the worst possible selection of dates, hoping he’ll run for the hills and never want to talk to the women again. Mind you, he’s not too keen on the idea, and only agrees to it after his sister Claire insists that he goes on four different dates, at which point she’ll cease hounding him about the matter. Penderwick finally begins dating again after his wife’s death five years prior. You have written both mysteries and romance novels. I do feel they work better taken as a whole, but they can stand alone.
